🎯 Opportunity in the digital world
Are you taking advantage of the creator economy?
Hi.
Over the past few weeks, quite a few things have changed in my life.
Two of those things happened in the digital world:
I started posting on Twitter.
I began working on my website, which consists of some free content as well as some paid services.
As of the date of this newsletter, I have 94 followers on Twitter and my website has not yet launched.
This newsletter is about helping you nail the bullseye in work and in life… and so I think it would be worthwhile to share the behind-the-scenes stuff that is going on and you can take from it whatever lessons you want.
There are a few goals I hope to accomplish by posting on Twitter and launching a website:
I’d like to offer value to an audience on Twitter.
I’d like to make money from copywriting services.
I’d like to be able to replace my 9-5 income with income from online writing.
The simplest way for me to gauge whether or not I am succeeding at these is to ask some questions:
Is my follower count growing, and are my followers engaging with my contact?
Am I working daily to increase my copywriting skills AND seek out new clients?
Is my blog gaining traction?
For the first bullet point above, the answer is yes. My follower count is growing and I have a semi-engaged audience. As follower count increases, so should engagement.
Note to self: Focus less on follower count.
As far as increasing my copywriting skillset, yes, I write every day and so I am becoming a better writer.
However, I am not actively seeking copywriting clients (if they come to me, I’ll take them—I am currently working with one web + copy client), and my blog isn’t gaining traction… primarily because my website is not yet ready for launch.
So, that means the goals for the next couple weeks are as follows:
Finish the initial draft of my website. This involves having seven (7) final drafts of blog posts as well as a listing of services.
Remain consistent with posting on Twitter. At this stage, I really need to nail down some systems for content creation and engagement.
I expect to launch my website (www.neilkollipara.com) on or around July 15, 2023.
Now, I want to bring value to anyone who is reading this newsletter, so here are some darts you can throw at your dartboard this week:
Don’t worry about systems in the beginning. Instead, go. Move. Take action. Systems can wait until you have a larger audience. Write tweets. Write blog posts. Engage with other creators. Let it be a bit chaotic. Building systems in the early stages isn’t really necessary—and it can be distracting.
Connect with a few creators on calls. This has been one of the most valuable actions I have taken. Chatting with other creators is an opportunity to throw around ideas and get advice. If you haven’t hopped on any calls, you’re missing out.
Enjoy the experiment. All of this is trial-and-error. Everyone is learning at their own pace. Some folks grow huge followings within their first month on Twitter. Others don’t. And that’s fine. Learn to find joy in all aspects of the process—if you don’t, you’ll dread writing.
That’s all I’ve got for today.
Next week, I’m headed to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for a five-day camping trip with my wife and son. I’ll have all my tweets scheduled in advance, and my engagement will be null.
Thanks for being here. Keep aiming for the bullseye. 🎯
